What happened to George Floyd may have had nothing to do with racism - just overaggressive behavior by Derek Chauvin rooted in the nature of his profession. With regard to Ahmaud Arbery, there does appear to be evidence of racism involved in the murder. But to tell the author that he didn’t experience racism when he quite clearly did - he said that residents in the area told him he wasn’t “dark enough” - is lacking in objectivity. It rings off as trying to deny the legitimacy of his experience in the manner that “woke”-minded people often do with white people, because whites don’t fit their definition of people who can suffer from racism. I would hope that that’s not what you’re trying to do here.
