As I explain in an article that will be published later today, I’m not opposed to including more women and non-whites in film or TV entertainment, precisely because it’s entertainment. Being forms of art, they are not subject to the same limits that most other industries have, at least not at the same level.

As I also explain in my upcoming article, I am opposed to quotas. When it comes to recognition for excellence in TV or film, I do however believe there are ways to ensure that the selection process is not biased towards whites. Like you, I recognize that it means a great deal to people to see themselves reflected in certain forms of entertainment. There’s plenty of reason for film and TV to be inclusive, as long as it’s done the right way.
