To me it’s rather silly when people whose pronouns clearly correspond with their expressed, biological gender put them next to their name. Maybe in some cases, they’re trying to express their solidarity with transgender people. But still, if you don’t need to tell people what pronouns you use, you probably shouldn’t. It’s as if they’re saying that the normal, everyday manner in which we use our pronouns is somehow wrongful or exclusive towards transgender people.
I’m what you’d call a non-traditional christian. I don’t believe that homosexuality or even homosexual activity is sinful. Some research I’ve read says that our interpretations of the bible regarding homosexuality have been mistaken. People like Pastor Awes really have no business preaching the word of God.
It distresses me to see when educators feel that sexual topics are within their territory when it comes to children, when that is strictly a parental jurisdiction. They’re sometimes adopting far-fetched rhetoric like you pointed out, with doctors supposedly “incorrectly” assigning a birth gender to newborn babies.
Once again, very good article, Sandra.
