Blending Colors

A poem

Peering upon a child’s art,
in a past time, prejudiced partial eyes
would protest the blending
of the colors which the creator,
innocent as any little girl and boy,
decided was perfect for the paper.
They raged against the
blending of the shades,
but with the gliding of hands
along the sheet, tracing the graceful
streaks upon each new easel,
the shades in their elegant arrangement
drew the gaze of the eyes
who in their artful wisdom
approved of the child’s masterpiece.
They rebuked the partial eyes
for the colors to remain together
in their splendor.

And so it remained
until the partial eyes soon returned
with a thunderous echo
and a blinding reflection.
The colors being already drawn
along their visual song,
the partial eyes now
looking at them from another angle
said that some shades
should be plucked off the paper
and others allowed to remain.
They looked upon the creation
and said it was good
for it to be divided.
Will the artful eyes once again
return to remind the world
of the beauty in the unity
which the creator crafted
from the very beginning?
